*SNOWOGRAPHY*--Days 4 & 5--jennifer kinkade {photography}--morgantown, wv

The last tips & pics of the week....the condensed version.

Day/Tip #4--Contrast

Find the contrast {with the snow} It could be the sun and blue sky with snow; flip-flops in the snow (brrrr); an interesting, rad color like teal, hot pink or purple against the snow; or a tanning salon with icicles hanging off of it! You look for it, you'll find it!

i had the greatest of intentions and grandest of ideas with this one, but our puppy got reeeallly sick{ and she is still on the mend } i still plan on doing something cool and funky as it looks like the snow is planning on sticking around for quite. some. time. woooo (imagine that woo being ever so sad sounding)

so i won't give away what my creative plans were ;) instead, i will just share what i have:

the promise that we might see blue skies and sunshine again someday......PLEEEAASE!!!!

cute, cute, cute...enough said. my scrapbooking supplies were well worth the sacrifice for these little dudes!

and a couple worth repeating IMHO:

the last one is a great segue from day 4 to day 5....it shows contrast as well as the BIG picture
this is our current street that we live on. our last winter here. :(

Moving on to Day/Tip #5: The BIG picture

On Monday, you focused on the little details, now move on to the BIG scene. Let's talk landscapes--the street you live on, the road to your house, maybe you have an awesome drive to work where there is a breathtaking view or maybe it's right in your own yard. I guarantee the snow has painted that picture with a little bit of extra beauty this week! :)

I actually attempted to write more about this tip, but Facebook was limiting my # of characters that I was allowed to type.

On to the picture:

The view in my new backyard...

and for those of you who knew i was agonizing over color in our new house, here is a little peek of one of my favorite views/rooms...with color! and since i haven't shared anything since my backsplash dilemma. i did find some mosaic tile and should be able to get a pic in the  next few weeks of it up! :) it's cool and funky.

this is the view from our living room looking into the kitchen/breakfast nook/ study.

the colors are lagoon for the kitchen; lemon meringue for the study; tidewater(i think) for the nook area with the 3 windows. they are all colors from Sherwin Williams. i am in love with the contrast of the teal and the light yellow ( the only warm color in the house)

Thanks for following for the week and I hope your eyes found something new through the lens of your camera!
Happy snappin'!!!

*SNOWOGRAPHY*--Day/Tip#3--jennifer kinkade {photography}--morgantown, wv

Day/Tip#3--Capture the ACTION! Dogs/kids frolicking, sled riding, snowball fights, angel making or maybe all the snow trucks, or lack thereof, clearing the snow!(shoveling snow is a good one, too!)
It's out there if you go looking for it!!
this is the first shot i thought of....
and then there was a similar one that came to thought from the fall...

the dog thinks she can fly...ears and all...haha!

OH NO!!! IT"S THE BIG, BAD WOLF OF THE ENCHANTED FOREST!!!!
AHHHH...RUN EVERYBODYYYYY!!!!!

HA HA....it's only Mr. Lincoln. It's OK! ;)
But if you don't behave, this is what you might get....

take that!  snow shake down!!!!
actually the kids LOVED it!! laughed like crazy...afterwards of course, not during.

and i am sure i will have plenty of opportunities to catch more action, say like when we get stuck in the snow trying to drive on snow and ice covered roads as a blizzard is pouring down!

this is my life. i just laugh.  :D

*SNOWOGRAPHY*--Day/Tip#2--jennifer kinkade {photography}--morgantown, wv

Change your perspective--Get Low!
Changing the angle of how you take a picture can/will change how the scene looks. Lie on your back or stomach, crouch down (in the snow if you have to), or simply look up through the trees, and see how things start to look differently!
Here is what I have to share:
Looking up...

Crouching down {i promise this is a great quad/glute workout}
Hey! What's up little dude?! :) Changing the angle made this shot just a little more whimsical!

So between the internet acting funny and watching American Idol for the very first time last night, I did not get this posted.
Someone please tell me when AI actually gets interesting. It did nothing for me.
Hopefully, I will get find a couple of action shots to post for #3 as we had a little more excitement today than what was planned!

and if my nine year old can get this shot with my iPhone! watchout!!!
here comes a budding photographer!! :)

quotes of inspiration--jennifer kinkade {photography}--morgantown, wv

i have come across this quote that i am about to share quite frequently.
it's always one that grabs me and makes me think b/c that's what i do. {think}

"And the day came when the risk [it took] to remain tight in the bud was
more painful than the risk it took to blossom."--Anais Nin

And with Spring fastly approaching, (but just one more quick snow storm is coming....), I thought
this quote was quite appropriate.

do you want to remain in the bud or miss out on the beauty of life?
imagine if this tree just stayed like this and never blossomed?

and a sister quote to finish this off...
"God is calling us to wake up , to shout an enthusiastic
'Yes!' to life
just as we say yes to our first sip of coffee each morning."

it ain't pretty without the morning coffee in my house!
and that, my friends, is another story...
